Professional Experience

Vernessa served as a teacher, assistant principal, Elementary and Middle school principal, Educational Consultant, Field Supervisor for LeTourneau University, and Supervisor of Student Teachers for the Region 7 Education Service Center during her 32 years in public education. She also served as the Coordinator of Testing and Academic Support at East Texas Baptist University.

Vernessa was named Director of Student Achievement at LeTourneau University in 2016. She oversees Disability Services for qualified students with disabilities, manages all aspects of Academic Intervention and Mentoring (AIM) for residential students including advising, teaches a Cornerstones course for AIM students, and supervises the Achievement Center staff.

Personal Background

Vernessa is a Longview native. She has two adult children and one grandson. She enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She is honored to serve students and staff at LeTourneau, and her favorite thing about the university is its welcoming atmosphere.
