What brought you to LETU?
I moved to Tyler, TX in 2011 to be closer to my parents. At the time, I had an undergrad degree and figured that would be good enough to get a job in my field. It took longer than I expected, but I did finally find employment.
Within that first year, I began to feel a prompting to go back to school. I didn’t know what I was supposed to go back for, or what I would do with it afterwards, but I finally gave in and began looking at programs. I knew that I wanted to go with the online route. It had been great during my undergrad program. I was “too old” to sit in a classroom, and I certainly didn’t have the desire to do that at this stage. After looking at several institutions that offered programs online, I finally chose LeTourneau. My driving decision was the Christian-based background and curriculum. I appreciated the fact that each class was underscored with biblical truths, as well as the educational structure of the subject.
How would you describe your LETU experience?
Although I was very apprehensive about returning to school after ten years, I soon realized that the program itself was built on not only educating, but utilizing my individual professional and life experiences.
Did any professors have a significant impact?
The instructors were very cognizant of guiding and allowing me to use my everyday personal and job experiences to make better sense of what I was learning and then putting it into better practice.
How has LETU prepared you for your career?
As a result of obtaining my MBA, I was able to move out of a dead-end job, in an organization that I had hoped to advance in further, to the position of Director of Finance & Operations of a government organization that I never imagined myself being a part of. It also inspired me to pursue another master's degree in Public Administration.
I truly appreciate LeTourneau’s programs and professors, and their willingness to guide their students both spiritually and academically. I believe that the professionals that leave LeTourneau are more prepared for their personal and professional careers because the curriculum prepares them with more than just an academic education.
